Sometimes it was all too much.
The chaotic nature of life could be overwhelming at times.
She used to think it was just her, that somehow she attracted more drama into her life than most people.
The older she got, though, the more she knew that wasn’t true.
Life is hard for everybody.
Some people just handle it better or differently or quieter than others.
She’d never been the quiet type.
She was a storyteller.
She had dozens of them…
Funny stories,
Sad stories,
Inspiring stories.
They were her coping mechanism.
They helped her make sense of things.
They helped her create empathy and understanding and connection.
They helped her transform life’s challenges into life’s lessons.
Her stories had changed over the years:
From heartbreak to humor.
From adversity to adventure.
From tragedy to triumph.
Now, she saw the narrative thread in everything.
When life didn’t make sense, she knew that it would in time.
She just had to be patient.
She just had to trust.
She just had to look for the clues that were always there hidden in plain sight.
In her mind, everything happened for a reason, everything meant something, everything was just another chapter in the ongoing plot.
It was all there for the noticing, for the gleaning, for the appreciating, if you were willing to look hard enough.
“Not every story has a happy ending”, she said. “But happiness isn’t the only thing that makes for a great story, and besides, endings are overrated anyway”.
