Commissions

At the end of 2020, when my first commission client approached me about doing some pieces for his newly renovated office space, I had no idea how to proceed. I did some research on how other artists handle commissions but didn't find a process that I felt like would work for me. I am very much an intuitive artist and as such I don't really know where I'm going when I start a painting. Even if I have an idea in mind, sometimes I end up somewhere completely different. I love it that way, but it makes it hard to do commissions.

After seeing the space and having a conversation about what he wanted, I suggested that he start by looking at my website to see if there was anything that I'd already done that caught his eye. He sent me six pictures and, using those as the jumping off point, I created four new original pieces (see below) which he loved and decided to purchase.

All that to say, I don’t really have a set process for doing commission work, but I believe that having a conversation, about what drew you to my work in the first place and what you’d like, and a tour (either in person or virtually) of your space is a really good place to start.

When you’re ready to get the ball rolling, shoot me an email (andrea@andreamaurercreations.com) and we’ll go from there! Thank you.
